Job Description

About the role
As a Denim & Knit Repair Specialist at FXRY, you’ll play a key role in keeping clothes in rotation and out of landfills. You’ll use advanced darning and repair techniques on denim and knitwear, combining industrial and hand-finishing skills to restore garments with precision and care.

Day to day

  • Perform denim and knit repairs using industrial and home darning machines
  • Operate industrial equipment including darning and coverstitch machines
  • Reinforce and repair damaged areas for strong, near-invisible finishes
  • Maintain FXRY’s high standards for craftsmanship and garment longevity
  • Collaborate with the founder and Fixer team to meet quality and turnaround goals
  • Document work with quick before/after photos for internal records

What you bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with garment repair, denim, or knits
  • Proficiency in darning, reinforcing, and patching denim and knit fabrics
  • Strong color-matching skills for thread and yarn blending
  • Deep understanding of fabric structure and garment construction
  • Experience using both industrial and home sewing equipment
  • Ability to assess and estimate repair time and cost based on photos or in-person evaluation
  • High attention to detail and consistent craftsmanship
  • Clear communication and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
  • A genuine commitment to sustainability and extending the life of clothes

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with denim brands, construction details, and wash variations
  • Prior work in an alterations, repair, or tailoring studio

Logistics

  • Contract, project-based work
  • On-site at FXRY’s Seattle studio with some potential for take-home projects
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

As a Contract Fixer at FXRY, you’ll help combat fashion waste by delivering high-quality knit repairs and alterations. You’ll use your reknitting and tailoring expertise to extend the life of garments and keep clothes in rotation.

  • Perform sweater repairs using hand reknitting and related knit mend techniques
  • Maintain FXRY’s standards for invisible or near-invisible finishes
  • Collaborate with the founder and Fixer team to meet quality and turnaround goals

What you bring

  • Strong garment construction knowledge for knits
  • Ability to assess damage and estimate repair time and cost from photos or in-person inspection
  • High attention to detail and consistent craftsmanship
  • Commitment to ethical practices, sustainability, and garment longevity
  • Clear communication and a proactive, client-focused mindset
  • Prior experience in an alterations, repair, or tailoring studio preferred
