Whether it’s your favorite jean jacket, some thrifted Levi’s, or the high-waisted pair you can’t part with, keeping your denim looking sharp is essential. Extend its life with these simple tips — no denim belongs in the trash.Even if it’s not in your rotation, keep it in shape so you can pass it on for someone else to love.

1. Wear More, Wash Less
Less washing = better fades and a longer lifespan. Aim to wash every 10 wears to keep your denim in top shape. More wear = more character.
2. Prep Before the Wash
Always zip zippers and fasten buttons before washing to maintain the shape and prevent unnecessary wear. Turn them inside out to preserve color and reduce friction from other clothes.

3. Cold Wash & Gentle Detergent
Opt for a natural or denim-friendly detergent and cold water to prevent fading and retain shape, especially for stretch denim with elastane.
Avoid bleach or fabric softeners—they coat the fabric and reduce breathability.
Hot Tip: For minor stains, use a damp cloth, mild soap, or vinegar to spot clean instead of washing the whole pair.
Bonus: It’s better for the planet too. 🌎
4. Air Dry for Durability
Avoid the dryer, as heat can shrink, fade, and weaken denim.
Reshape your denim and lay it flat to dry, or hang them upside down from the waist to maintain form.

5. Freshen Them Up
Instead of frequent washing, freeze your denim overnight in a zip-lock bag to eliminate odors. For a better refresh, hang them outside in fresh air.
Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

6. Raw Denim? Follow Special Care
If you have raw denim, wear them for at least 6 months before washing to allow natural fades to develop.
When washing, soak in cold water with vinegar to preserve the indigo dye.

7. Add Uniqueness with Repairs & Alterations
Got a hole, rip, or tear? Add character with discreet repairs or visible mending.
For a perfect fit, tailor your denim—a nip at the waist, an OG hem, or a taper can go a long way.
Keep it in rotation, and out of landfills.
